Visiting Comala
Also known as “America’s White Town”, due to its typical and picturesque appearance of its white houses with tile roofs standing out among the orchards of exuberant vegetation, watered by the San Juan, Suchitlán and Tía Barragana Rivers. And as a final framework: the Majestic Fire Volcano. The name was mentioned by Mexican writer Juan Rulfo in his masterpiece: “Pedro Páramo”, and the place is frequently a stage for different national and international film productions. This region, keeps the provincial taste which has become famous as being one of the most beautiful towns in the State. In order to keep its traditional appearance, the State Government declared Comala as an Area of Historic Monuments on 1988. One of Comala’s main attractions is its arches, best known as Los Portales, located in front of the Plaza de Armas. In here you will find typical restaurants in which you can savor the varied regional food at the same time that you enjoy typical live Mexican music.
