Visiting Coquimatlán

The name means “Land were the nets are done” in Nahuatl language. It was founded during the first years of the Colonial era; it is why you will see this typical physiognomy. Narrow and ancient streets, wide, wood doors, houses and balconies with simple smithy details, it is located 14 km (8.7miles) southwest of the city of Colima.

Gastronomy
Thanks to the streams found in this municipality, during the rainy season it is possible to enjoy the river chacal (sweet water shrimp) prepared in a soup.

This municipality has a warm climate, sub-humid in 90% of its territory, with less humidity rains during the summer. The annual average temperature is 26˚ C (78.8˚ F) and the annual average rain fall is 67.3 millimeters (2.27 ounces). The rainy season is from July through October.
