Since the 60’s, Comala has been known as America’s White Town. In 2002 it became part of Mexico´s Magical Town federal program. The main tourist attraction of this town with cobbled streets, colorful walls and red tile roofs, is its people, which conserve jealously its traditions and joy as well as the great variety of tourist sites. Its wonderful climate and gastronomy such as typical regional snacks, the tropical fruits punch, freshly baked bread and the delicious café de olla (coffee prepared Mexican style with cinnamon and brown sugar), will make you love this town.
It is a cheerful town characterized by a clean and exact traced hamlet, where the white color of the facades stands out from the red tile roofs and the smithy details in an Alejandro Rangel Hidalgo style. Famous for the portals which frame the plaza, house of the typical regional gastronomy, in its restaurants it is possible to savor the “botanas” (snacks) with a refreshing “ponche” (typical regional beverage elaborated with tropical fruits) while listening to typical Mexican music.
