This route offers guaranteed fun and learning since you will identify things linked to our ancestors as well as the crocodiles’ life which live in large amounts in the La Colorada de Alcuzahue lagoon in Tecomán.
It is located in the high part of Ixtlahuacán. Inside the cave you can admire a natural formed vault, decorated with stalagmites and stalactites as well as a hall with steps in ruins that seem to have been built by our ancestors for ceremonial purposes.
How to get there: On the Colima-Manzanillo Road, take the road to the municipality of Ixtlahuacán. Before entering the Municipality, on the right side, there is a sign which indicates: to San Gabriel. Follow the signs until you get to the cave.

The Colorada Lagoon is a lakeside area adjacent to the Alcuzahue Lagoon, which is the biggest within Tecoman’s territory. Here is where the Crocodile shelter is located from the beginning of the 80’s. There are crocodiles of different sizes and ages in captivity, coexisting with hundreds of other animals which are in their natural habitats.
How to get there: Take the beltway which is beside the Arbol de la Vida (Life Tree). Take the road that takes you to Cofradía de Hidalgo. Before entering to Cofradía de Hidalgo follow the rough dirt road in the direction to the lagoon.
